The Grift is Up
Abandoning climate policy, even though it was woefully inadequate, will have a disastrous effect, both economically and socially on Canada.
Mark Carney has built the ultimate grift, the public financing of corporate profit. He speaks about “values-based realism” & “resilience” which translates into a mantra of “protect major asset managers & institutional funds”.
The promise of intergenerational investment is not an investment in public institutions that benefit Canadians, but an intergenerational grift that tethers Canada to an economic system that fails not only most Canadians, but also mankind.
This system benefits an insulated ring of high-finance gatekeepers & corporate boardrooms. His economic model is no different than any other pyramid scheme. The government uses public debt & legislative mechanisms that keep the top tier insulated while the bottom layer carries the weight of the collapse.
Tier 1 is filled with global asset managers, institutional investors and primary defense contractors. Canada is a corporate state. Mark Carney doesn’t serve the interests of all Canadians, but as chief architect for the financialization of the state. To do so, Mark Carney is willing to strip Canadians of their charter & constitutional rights in order to do so. Sadly, a good percentage of Canadians approve of Mr. Carney’s agenda.
A self-sustaining society can’t exist by cutting the literal foundations of its sustainability—public infrastructure, healthcare, education, and ecological stability—to guarantee the profits to private corporate mega corporations.
Are a permanent war economy; mass surveillance (incl. back-dooring of our electronic devices); ongoing genocide; aiding/abetting genocidal states; corporate welfare; flood moat/raise drawbridge immigration policy or the complete abandonment of climate action aligned with Canadian values?
Mark Carney’s economic polices of privatization, corporate subsidies, militarization, cuts of public services, the abandonment of climate reality are the means of the grift. The end to those means is public financialization of corporate profit. Authoritarian legislation is being passed by the government to control public blowback. Welcome to 1984.
When inverted totalitarianism can’t sustain itself, it cannibalizes itself & everything in its path. No one with power and privilege willingly will give it up. They’ll fight tooth and nail to keep it.
Soft fascism is managerial governance, technocratic de-risking & austerity. Once the grift is up, When corporate Canada can no longer maintain the illusion of democracy and previously compliant complains, hard fascism will replace soft fascism.. The grift is up.
